Earlier this year we hosted the first event in our contract negotiation series, “Negotiating with Goliath,” which examined how small companies can navigate the power differential when contracting with larger players. “All the Power?,” flipped the script and focused on strategies for lawyers in larger enterprises to efficiently engage with smaller companies.

Working with smaller companies can bring substantial benefits to large enterprises -- smaller businesses often push industry boundaries and offer creative products and services that catalyze innovation. On paper, the large enterprise has all the power in this dynamic. In practice, navigating this power differential is complex and, if handled without care, can lead to lengthy, frustrating and inefficient negotiations.

In this panel discussion, we spoke with in-house counsel from The Clorox Company, NBCUniversal, and Uber about how they successfully navigate power dynamics to achieve outcomes that protect the business while also building productive relationships with smaller entities.
